Description

The Kubus armchair from Josef Hoffmann lives up to its name in two respects. It consists of many squares, both in terms of its construction and the design of its surface. With its purely geometric shape, the cube was also a kind of harbinger of cubism. The armchair by Josef Hoffmann was designed in 1910 and can still be found today as a replica in numerous commercial and residential spaces.

Originally, the Kubus was a club chair. Together with the two- and three-seater sofas in the series, it creates a cozy seating area with a cultivated and sophisticated look. The base frame of the armchair is made of wood. The dimensionally stable upholstery is covered in leather and has been visually shaped into squares using a special sewing technique.
