Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution in the late 18th century, Assassin's Creed III introduces a new hero: Ratohnhaké:ton, who is of part Native American and part English descent. He calls himself Connor and becomes the new voice of justice in the ancient war between Assassins and Templars. The player becomes an Assassin in the war for freedom and against tyranny in the most elaborate and fluid combat experience in the series.
