1-4 of 19

Le Corbusier (* October 6, 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds; † August 27, 1965 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin; actually Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris) was a Swiss-French architect, architectural theorist, urban planner, painter, draughtsman, sculptor and furniture designer.

Le Corbusier was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, but his new ideas also sparked controversy and some remain controversial to this day. Since 2016, 17 of his buildings have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

He first adopted his pseudonym Le Corbusier, based on the name of his great-grandmother Lecorbésier and corbeau (raven), in the magazine L'Esprit nouveau in 1920.
