Description

With the Tulip Chair , Eero Saarinen pursued the goal of creating furniture from a single piece with his Pedestal Series
.
No superfluous legs, one material. He designed tables and chairs that are reminiscent of the shape of the tulip. The original intention was to use plastic, but this proved difficult in the mid-1950s, so the bases of the tulip furniture were made of cast aluminum and painted.
